Nexus CCTV

At a cost of £8.5 million, Nexus (the PTE for Tyne & Wear) installed the world's first digital colour CCTV system that provides continuous coverage and recording all day and every day.

500 cameras cover the entire network of Metro stations, station approaches, adjoining bus stations and car parks. The cameras are centrally controlled and monitored in each of the 5 local authority areas by trained operators who are in direct communication with the Police.
